Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ is thrilled to announce the inaugural Safdie Archives Research Grant. The Grant is available to scholars, students, and practitioners whose project requires them to travel to Montreal to consult material in the Moshe Safdie Archives held at Rare Books and Special Collections. Each year up to $7,500 in reimbursement for travel and travel-related expenses will be made to one individual who requires a minimum of 2 weeks to carry out their research during the next fiscal year, (1 May - 30 April).

This grant is open to historians, architects, graduate students, post-docs, scholars, and those interested in Moshe Safdie and his architectural career whose project requires use of the Moshe Safdie Archives at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾. Recipients are requested to submit a report of their work suitable for publication in and to give a presentation at the University.

How to Apply: Applicants must submit their CV, a project proposal, and arrange for a letter of recommendation to be sent to Rare Books and Special Collections. Please send all documentation attached to an email to rarebooks.library [at] mcgill.ca (rarebooks[dot]library[at]mcgill[dot]ca). Files should have the name of the applicant and year (i.e., Smith_Jane_2025_application).

The deadline for the inaugural round of applications is January 16, 2026. The successful applicant will be notified in February 2026 and will have the next fiscal year to carry out their research (1 May 2026 - 30 April 2027).

The applications are considered by a committee which gives preference to specific and clearly described projects.
