Rare Books and Special Collections offers several research grants that offer local and international researchers the opportunity to engage directly with our world-renowned collections.
Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾-ASECS Fellowship - The Burney Centre, in conjunction with the Rare Books and Special Collections Division of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Libraries, offers an annual Fellowship, designed to assist scholars who need to travel to and establish temporary residence in Montreal to use the resources of the Library. The Fellowship is available to scholars interested in any aspect of Frances Burney, the Burney family, and their extended circle. It carries an award of C$3,000 for a one-month stay, at a time to be arranged. The Fellowship is funded by  a²Ô»å Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Library. The Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ David Hume Research Travel Grant - The Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ David Hume Research Travel Grant, funded through the generosity of the Hume Society, is available annually to a graduate student, professor or independent researcher who is interested in pursuing a project related to David Hume and his era. The Rare Books and Special Collections Division of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Library has an extensive collection of material by and about David Hume, including original letters. The Grant, with a value of up to C$5,000, is open on a competitive basis.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Raymond Klibansky Collection Research Grant - The Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Libraries-Raymond Klibansky Research Travel Grant is intended to enable researchers from outside the Montreal area, both established scholars and graduate students, to work on a research project that requires access to material held, in whole or in part, in the Rare Books and Special Collections Department of the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Libraries.
The Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Libraries-Safdie Archives Research Grant - The Grant is available to scholars, students, and practitioners whose project requires them to travel to Montreal to consult material in the Moshe Safdie Archives held at Rare Books and Special Collections. Each year up to C$7,500 in reimbursement for travel and travel-related expenses will be made to one individual who requires a minimum of 2 weeks to carry out their research during the next fiscal year, (1 May–30 April).
