Martha Chamodraka

Martha Chamodraka, Ph.D.
Psychologist (OPQ)
PGME Wellness Consultant

Martha is a licensed Counselling Psychologist (OPQ - #11387-09) with 15+ years of experience working as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and lecturer at 鶹ýվ and 3+ years as a psychotherapist in private practice, half of which is dedicated to the care of physicians and medical trainees. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Psychology at Panteion University of Athens, Greece, and her Master of Arts and PhD in Counselling Psychology at 鶹ýվ. She worked for over 10 years as a psychotherapist at the 鶹ýվ Wellness Hub prior to joining the Office of Medical Learner Affairs (OMLA) and worked as a PGME Wellness Consultant at the OMLA between 2017 and 2022. She returned to the OMLA in 2026 on a part-time basis to continue pursuing her passion of supporting post-graduate medical trainees in their learning environment.

In her role as the lead PGME Wellness Consultant at the OMLA, Martha has gained extensive knowledge and experience in helping residents and fellows navigate the often turbulent waters of postgraduate medical training, and has successfully supported hundreds of them, from diverse levels of training and specialties, who have sought help due to stress, burnout, clinical performance anxiety, imposter syndrome, mistreatment and discrimination, personal and professional relationship difficulties, identity issues, acculturation struggles, grief, and academic challenges.

Besides offering individual, strictly confidential, counselling and psychotherapy, both short- and long-term, she has also facilitated numerous program-specific support groups (“Well-being Rounds”), helping learners connect with each other on a human level, with honesty and vulnerability, about the inherent challenges of postgraduate medical training and their impact on learners’ physical, mental, and emotional health. She has also designed and delivered numerous workshops on topics directly related to the mental health of medical learners, and is proud to have initiated and spearheaded the successful Resident Well-being Ambassadors (RWA) program, which has fostered invaluable collaborations between resident well-being representatives from a multitude of residency programs and the PGME team at the OMLA.

Martha is a strong advocate for raising awareness on mental health issues on the institutional level of medical education, and building initiatives to support learners’ well-being and promote a healthy balance between professional success and personal fulfillment and growth.

With a strong appreciation for the simultaneous nervousness and hope that deciding to reach out for help may generate, Martha’s work involves creating a warm and caring space where learners can safely share their experiences, make sense of their struggles, and discover ways to feel empowered and protect their emotional well-being.
