Working Group on Board-Senate Cohesion

Strengthening Cohesion Between the Board of Governors and Senate

At the Joint Meeting of the Board of Governors and Senate held on November 6, 2025, members of both bodies engaged in a discussion on the President's Unite priority and the theme of unity within Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾â€™s shared governance model. Participants reflected on the respective roles and discussed ways to strengthen collaboration, communication, and mutual understanding between the two governance bodies.

Several key themes emerged from those discussions, including:

  • The need for greater clarity regarding the distinct mandates of the Board and Senate;

  • The importance of building trust through transparency and accountability;

  • Recognition that both bodies bring complementary strengths to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾â€™s governance framework;

  • The value of creating more opportunities for meaningful dialogue between members.

Further to the meeting, a Joint Board–Senate Working Group was established with the support of the Secretariat and the President's Office.

Mandate of the Working Group

The Working Group has been tasked with:

  • Developing and administering a survey to members of both bodies to assess the current state of Board–Senate cohesion;

  • Identifying areas of strength and areas for improvement in communication and collaboration;

  • Gathering recommendations on how the relationship between the Board and Senate may be further strengthened.

A report summarizing the survey findings, together with resulting recommendations, will be presented to both bodies.
