MIF Lunch & Learn 25: Supply Chain Management

Thursday, April 16, 2026 12:00to13:00

With businesses globalized more than ever, managing suppliers is a critical part of business - even for startups. And while costs are a key factor, they are not the only factor. There are many steps to the production process, which affect one another with potentially serious consequences for customers. But how to control all of these steps? What are strategies that small companies can use to optimize chains that can spread across continents? To answer these and other questions, the MIF has assembled a panel to discuss the theory and practice of managing supply chains.

Saibal Ray is a James Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Professor in Operations Management with a specific interest in supply chain management. He is specifically interested in studying supply chain risk management, retail operations management, and supply chain issues related to agri-food and natural resources sectors. He is frequently cited in the media for his knowledge on this topic.

Ted Hill is Co-Founder and VP Product Development for Physiobiometrics, one of the first teams to be supported by the MIF. Their device - which helps elderly and mobility reduced patients regain their ability to walk safely - has gone through several iterations and combines local design and foreign manufacture.
