Dr. Justin Sanders holds the Kappy and Eric M. Flanders Chair of Palliative Care and is Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾. He directs the Division of Palliative Care in that department and the Division of Supportive and Palliative Care at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Health Centre. Dr. Sanders has a BA in Art History from Haverford College, an MD from the University of Vermont, and an MSc in Medical Anthropology, which he completed at the University College London as a US-UK Fulbright Post-graduate Scholar. Dr. Sanders completed residency and chief residency in Family and Social Medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He completed his fellowship in the Harvard Interdisciplinary Palliative Care Fellowship at the Massachusetts General Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He was a research fellow in cancer communications outcomes research and then the Associate Director of Innovation in the Serious Illness Care Program at Ariadne Labs, a joint health systems innovation center at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He founded the Centre for Relationships in Serious Illness, which aims to transform healthcare for people affected by serious illness by understanding and promoting authentic healing relationships.
