Centre for Research in Neuroscience

Welcome to the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Centre for Research in Neuroscience!

We areÌýa vibrant and multidisciplinary research centre located at Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ in Montreal, Canada.

The research conducted by our highly interactive research groups has led to major advances in basic and medical neurosciences.

The CRN provides training to students toward an MSc or PhD, and to postdoctoral researchers and MDs for careers in research.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of (1941–2025), a distinguished Canadian neuroscientist and founding member of the Centre for Research in Neuroscience (CRN), on July 6, 2025.

Leo held an iconic place in the field of neuroendocrinology and Canadian neuroscience, grounded in his outstanding scientific contributions—first at Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾, and later at the University of Ottawa. Over the course of his career, he trained generations of scientists and clinicians and was widely admired as a teacher, supervisor, colleague, role model, and friend.

Leo’s warmth, disarming sense of humour, and deep humanism made everyone who encountered him feel at ease and valued. His loss is deeply felt, but his legacy as both a scientist and a model of humanity will endure.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian, and daughters, Francine and Barbara. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family.
