European Climate Policy: A View from the City

Monday, January 26, 2026 12:00to13:30
680 Sherbrooke St. West, room 1041

Over one hundred cities have joined either the European Union's 2030 climate-neutral, smart city program and/or ICLEI's climate-neutral cities mission. These cities aim to be climate leaders, developing policies and programs to sharply cut emissions while improving the quality of urban life and enhancing resilience against the effects of a changing climate. This talk will highlight some of the most interesting examples of what European cities are doing to meet their climate goals.

Dr. Miranda Schreurs investigates environmental movements, green politics, and climate policy-making both comparatively and internationally. She is involved in projects examining the energy transition in Germany and Japan; climate policy in Europe, the United States, and China; and the politics of high-level radioactive waste management.

The talk will be delivered in English. No registration required.
