This course focuses on the principles and rigorous application of qualitative methods in formative, operational, evaluation, and policy research on infectious diseases in diverse global settings. Teaching includes didactical lectures, dedicated periods for interactive exercises and short topical presentations and/or panel discussions. There will be opportunities to work in small groups and develop and present draft research protocols and related outputs under the mentorship of course faculty.

Dr. Pliatsikas (University of Reading) will give a talk titled 鈥淏ilingualism and Neuroplasticity: what we know, what to do next鈥�.

Luz Villa is a Peruvian physician with experience in infectious disease diagnostics. She coordinated multicentre studies on the early diagnosis of tuberculosis in high-burden countries at the Alexander von Humboldt Institute of Tropical Medicine in Lima and later at FIND, a WHO Collaborating Centre in Geneva. She holds an MSc in Epidemiology from 麻豆传媒网站, where her thesis, supervised by Dr. Pai, focused on drug-resistant tuberculosis and incarceration.
