Inas D. Redjem, PhD

Post doctoral fellow

Inas D. Redjem, PhD, received her doctoral degree from Universite Rennes 2 in France for Psychology where she studied under Prof. Estelle Michinov. She holds a Master's degree in Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology, as well as a Master's degree in Cognitive Sciences. Her research focuses on simulation‑based learning in medical education and nursing education, including virtual reality and other immersive approaches. She examines how these methods support the development of technical and non‑technical skills by integrating cognitive and social dimensions of learning.

 


Tianying Sun, Ph.D.

Post doctoral fellow

Tianying Sun received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from The Pennsylvania State University, U.S., and previously earned an M.Ed. in Educational Measurement and Assessment from Beijing Normal University, China. Her research builds on a background of implementation science and social-emotional learning to examine learning, emotion, self- and socially shared regulation in simulation-based medical training and real-world practice settings. She also uses advanced statistical methods and learning analytics to study these processes.

 


Osamu Nomura, PhD

Doctoral Student

Dr. Osamu Nomura is a PhD student in Health Sciences Education in the Institute of Health Sciences Education at 鶹ýվ university. He earned an MD from Hirosaki University in Japan and worked as a pediatric emergency physician in Tokyo and Hirosaki. He completed a Master’s of Arts in Educational Psychology, Health Professions Education Concentration in 鶹ýվ in 2019. After completing the master’s program, he was appointed as the assistant professor of the Emergency Medicine, and currently as the research associate professor in the Centre for Medical Education at Hirosaki University. In his PhD project at 鶹ýվ, he will examine medical students’ and health professionals’ use of emotion regulation strategies.

Tippie Zhang

Master’s Student

Tippie Zhang is a master’s thesis student in surgical education at 鶹ýվ. She completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at 鶹ýվ, alongside minors in behavioural science and gender studies. Her research interest revolves around studying emotions.


Asa Kanani

Master’s Student

I am a master’s student at the SAILS lab, focusing on behavioral training and reward processing within educational systems for medical professionals. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto, where I completed the co-op program. 

My academic interests are deeply rooted in the intersection of psychology and education, aiming to enhance learning experiences in the medical field.
