As winter weather in Quebec slowly transitions to spring, the roads and lanes, including those on �鶹��ý��վ’s campuses, will soon get busier with cyclists and pedestrians. We can all share the road safely by keeping in mind a few basic rules and guidelines.

Below are some reminders for both cyclists and pedestrians on how to stay safe on public roads and on �鶹��ý��վ’s campuses and property.

�鶹��ý��վ’s numerous heritage buildings have been the silent witnesses of the University’s growth over the past 200 years. The teams responsible for the upkeep of �鶹��ý��վ’s property across both campuses are part of Facilities Management and Ancillary Services (FMAS). This work includes ground maintenance, cleaning, plumbing, electricity, carpentry, painting, and managing renovations, to name a few.

Back to School Safety Reminders

The back-to-school energy on campus is a special one – new students are eager to start their academic careers and for some students, it is their first time away from home. Returning students are coming back after a well-deserved break. Faculty and staff are also beginning a new semester; for some, it will all be new and for others, it will be all too familiar. There is much to learn and to get re-acquainted with: How long will it take to walk from the McConnell Engineering building to the Education building? Is there still construction at the Macdonald-Steward Library Building?

Caring for �鶹��ý��վ’s art collection

The �鶹��ý��վ Visual Arts Collection (VAC) team cares for over 3,500 works of art spread across three campuses in more than 90 �鶹��ý��վ buildings. While art museums tend to only have a small fraction of their collection on view, �鶹��ý��վ has nearly 80% of its collection on display, which enhances the teaching, research, and working environments of faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

Theft prevention: Laptops and other equipment

Laptops and other electronic equipment are easy targets for theft. Besides the monetary value of the hardware, the information that is stored on the equipment must be considered, as it is often far more valuable than the equipment itself. The theft of that information, especially if it is personally identifiable information, may potentially result in exposure to liability.
