Thes e include the immediate introduction of a new 2-part streamlined joint app lication process and changes to the funding model for 2026. Further detail s are provided below.\n\nMore information and guidance will be shared at t he Mitacs-led information session being held on Thursday June 5th from 3:0 0-4:00 p.m. (E.T.) \n\nRegister Here\n\n \n\n1) Application Process\n\nKey points of the new application process:\n\n\n Applications must follow the new 2-part process.\n Part 1 of the new application must be submitted along side the NSERC Alliance application\, with Mitacs accessing and validating the materials during the NSERC review stage.\n Part 1 will include the gen eral project information and details on the internships and hiring strateg y\, but it will no longer encompass the technical content of the proposal \n If approved for funding by NSERC\, applicants will need to submit to Mit acs an unedited copy of the Mitacs Part 1 along with a copy of the NSERC n otice of award.\n Part 2 of the process will include a technical proposal t o be submitted to Mitacs for review and approval. The intern activation ca n only proceed after NSERC has approved the project for funding.\n New appl ication forms will be used for both Part 1 and Part 2 of the application p rocess.\n\n\nWe strongly encourage applicants planning joint NSERC + Mitac s projects in the coming year to contact their Mitacs Advisor early to und erstand the new process and obtain the updated forms.\n\n2) Funding Model \n\nEffective as of April 1\, 2026\, partner funds can no longer be used t o meet the matching requirements of both Mitacs and NSERC for new applicat ions. Partners will be required to provide funds separately towards both M itacs and NSERC programs. Ongoing internship units approved before the dea dlines for submission of Part 1 and Part 2 with this new process will not be impacted by this funding change.\n\nFor researchers willing to submit a proposal under the current funding model\, please take into account some important dates determined by Mitacs:\n\n\n December 19\, 2025: Deadline to submit to Mitacs the NSERC notice of award and the unedited Part 1 using current funding rules (joint cost-sharing).\n March 4\, 2026: Deadline to s ubmit Part 2 (intern activation) under current funding model.\n\n\n \n\nMc Gill’s Mitacs Advisors:\n\nFor Faculties of Engineering\, Education\, Arts and Law\, School of Computer Science\, Schulich School of Music\, School of Information Studies\, Desautels Faculty of Management:\n\nckatsari [at] mitacs.ca (Christina-Maria Katsari) | 514.708.7821\n\nFor Faculties of Ag ricultural and Environmental Sciences\, Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sc iences\, Medicine and Health Sciences\, and Science (excluding the School of Computer Science):\n\nnrachel [at] mitacs.ca (Natalie Rachel) | 514.220 .5368\n\n \n\nÂ鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Contacts:\n\nFor Faculty of Engineering:\n\njana.poru bska [at] mcgill.ca (Jana Porubska\,) Senior Industry Partnerships Officer \n\nagapi.agapitos [at] mcgill.ca (Agapi Agapitos)\, Industry Partnerships Officer\n\nFor FAES:\n\njulia.carvalho [at] mcgill.ca (Julia Carvalho)\, Senior Industry Partnerships Officer\n\nFor Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences:\n\ndaina.leimanis [at] mcgill.ca (Daina Leimanis)\, Senior Indu stry Partnerships Officer\n\nFor all other Faculties:\n\nfilipe.werneck [a t] mcgill.ca (Filipe Werneck)\, Senior Industry Partnerships Officer\n DTSTART:20250527T203000Z DTEND:20250607T203000Z SUMMARY:Upcoming changes to the NSERC Alliance-Mitacs Accelerate Joint Prog ram (Effective 2025–26 FY) & Information Session June 5th Sign-up URL:/research/channels/event/upcoming-changes-nserc-al liance-mitacs-accelerate-joint-program-effective-2025-26-fy-information-36 5538 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
