We are delighted to announce the successful launch of the CASHEWS Club — the Contract Academic Staff Hub for Educational Writing & Scholarship. With three hybrid meetings held on October 10th, November 14th and December 5th, the initiative is steadily gaining momentum. Approximately fifteen faculty members have participated across these sessions, and their enthusiasm has set a strong foundation for what promises to become a vibrant and collaborative scholarly community at the Ingram School of Nursing (ISoN).

My research program addresses a central challenge in contemporary cancer care: as care has shifted to ambulatory settings, patients and their family caregivers now assume a 24/7 responsibility for self-managing the complex physical and psychosocial consequences of cancer. Yet many lack the knowledge, skills, and support to do so effectively, placing a heavy and often invisible burden on individuals and their relationships and increasing the risk of poorer health outcomes.

Developed by course coordinator Heather Hart and colleagues Fiona Hanley and Bessy Bitzas, an assignment in the graduate course NUR2 608 Seminar in Nursing challenges students to express their understanding of the values at the heart of Strengths-based Nursing and Healthcare (SBNH) through artistic expression. On December 2, 2025, a total of 57 students proudly displayed their artwork at an Art Exhibit that showcased not only their finished products, but also their deeply personal journeys of growth and discovery.
