You can submit questions via webf orm both before and during the event.\n\nRegister now\n\n\n Speaker\n\n Rave n Swamp\n\n Greenhouse Facilitator\, Karonhianónhnha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhk hwa\n\n Raven Swamp is currently the Greenhouse Facilitator at Karonhianónh nha Tsi Ionterihwaienstáhkhwa elementary school and a co-founding member o f the grassroots initiative the Kahnawà:ke Community Garden\, which aims t o revitalize traditional planting practices within the community of Kahnaw à:ke. In 2017 she was crowned with the title of Miss Indian World at the G athering of Nations Powwow and reigned on a platform of Indigenous Languag e Revitalization and Indigenous Food Sovereignty. Throughout her travels a cross Turtle Island\, she addressed the importance of these practices and their impact on the identities of Indigenous Peoples. It is her personal b elief that with the full implementation of these practices in daily life w e may restore a traditional way of being as lost through years of coloniza tion.\n\n Moderator\n\n Murray Humphries\n\n Associate Professor\, Department of Natural Resource Sciences\, Director\, Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Nutrition and Environment (CINE)\n\n Murray Humphries’s research focuses on environmental determinants of wildlife physiology\, behaviour\, and troph ic interactions\, as well as the contributions of wildlife conservation to the traditional food systems of Indigenous Peoples. Since 2010\, Prof. Hu mphries has served as academic director of 鶹ýվ’s Centre for Indigenous Peoples’ Nutrition and Environment\, an interdisciplinary research centre dedicated to community-based research on food and the environment. Murray also holds the 鶹ýվ Chair in Northern Research\, funded by the Institut Nordique du Québec. In this role\, Murray initiated and currently leads Mc Gill North\, a network of northern and circumpolar researchers at 鶹ýվ\, including professors\, post-docs\, and graduate students from 9 faculties and more than 20 departments/units. His teaching curriculum has recently expanded to a new Indigenous success pathway program\, developed in partne rship with Cree organizations based in northern Quebec\, to provide profes sional development training in fish and wildlife sciences for community of ficers.\n\n \n Important Information on COVID-19\n\n 鶹ýվ-sponsored events follow local guidelines and policies to lower the risk of COVID-19 transmi ssion.
