Vrinda Narain was promoted to the rank of Full Professor. A member of the Faculty since 2007, Vrinda Narain’s research and teaching span constitutional law, feminist legal theory, and social diversity and inclusion.

Aaron Mills received the 鶹ýվ President’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in the Assistant Professor category. He received the award at the Fall Convocation Ceremony on October 14, 2025. His nomination emphasized his innovative use of Indigenous pedagogy to engage students, his contributions to the decolonization of legal education at 鶹ýվ, and his leadership in influencing how Indigenous legal traditions are taught at our own Faculty and in law schools across Canada.

René Provost, MSRC, Ad E, a été nommé lauréat du Prix du Québec Léon-Gérin, décerné par le Gouvernement du Québec depuis 1977 à une personne qui a mené une carrière remarquable en recherche dans le domaine des sciences humaines et sociales. Sommité mondiale en droit international, le professeur René Provost a fait un apport remarquable à l’une des questions les plus complexes de notre époque : comment réglementer le comportement des combattants dans les hostilités armées et mieux protéger les victimes de la guerre?

Angela Campbell was appointed Provost and Executive Vice-President (Academic) of 鶹ýվ. She began her term on February 1, 2026.

Adelle Blackett, MSRC, Ad. E., a été désignée lauréate du prix Bora Laskin 2025. Le prix lui a été remis le 9 décembre lors d’une cérémonie à Toronto. Le prix Bora Laskin récompense les contributions exceptionnelles dans le domaine du droit du travail. Il a été créé en 2003 par le Centre des relations industrielles et des ressources humaines de l’Université de Toronto, en collaboration avec Lancaster House, éditeur d’ouvrages sur le travail, l’emploi et les droits de la personne depuis plus de 30 ans.

Peer Zumbansen was appointed the inaugural holder of the Elizabeth Carmichael Monk Chair in Business Law for a five-year term, beginning January 1, 2026. Established through the generosity of engaged alumni, the Elizabeth Carmichael Monk Chair will serve as a hub of excellence in business law at 鶹ýվ. It will enhance teaching and research in the field, strengthen ties with alumni in practice, and inspire future generations of leaders. This landmark initiative was championed by David Binet, LLB’85, and Marc Barbeau, BCL’84, LLB’84.

Marie Manikis a remporté le Prix Pierre-Blache, attribué au meilleur texte paru dans la Revue de droit de l’Université Sherbrooke (RDUS) 2025 pour l’article “” (co-rédigé avec Jay De Santi, BCL/LLB 2017). À l’unanimité, le jury du concours a salué la profondeur, la qualité et la pertinence de l’article.

The German Journal of Air and Space Lawpublished a special acknowledgment of Professor Emeritus Ram Jakhu on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Calling him "an eminent scholar in the world of international law and space law," the article celebrated his impressive career and legacy in the field, as well as his wonderful character: "Not only is he a credit due to his sharp intellect and persuasiveness, he is simultaneously down-to-earth, compassionate, and relatable."Happy birthday, Professor Jakhu!

Stefan-Michael Wedenig, Executive Director of the Institute of Air and Space Law, was elected a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

鶹ýվ Law ranked among the world’s top law schools by the Times Higher Education

The Faculty of Law was again ranked as one of the world’s top universities at which to study law. The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings placed 鶹ýվ 33rd worldwide.  

Since the law ranking was introduced in 2017, 鶹ýվ has consistently featured in the global top 35.

This continued success reflects 鶹ýվ Law’s steadfast commitment to outstanding legal scholarship and pedagogy.
