Alayne Adams, PhD, Associate Professor and Global Health Director at the Department of Family Medicine, has received the 2025 Social Prescribing Research Award by the Canadian Institute for Social Prescribing (CISP). This national recognition highlights her leadership in advancing the field of social prescribing through The Social Prescription Collaborative, a research initiative jointly led by �鶹��ý��վ and Université Laval that is generating new knowledge, tools and approaches to strengthen the implementation of social prescription (SP) in Quebec and beyond.

Alayne Adams, PhD, Associate Professor and Director of Global Health at the �鶹��ý��վ Department of Family Medicine, has been awarded the 2025 Jonathan Campbell Meakins and Family Memorial Fellowship for her project, “Innovations in Global Primary Care Delivery.” This fellowship, administered by �鶹��ý��վ’s Institute of Health Sciences Education (IHSE), recognizes excellence in medical education and supports transformative initiatives in health sciences.

The World Health Organization recognizes Alzheimer's disease and related dementias, which affect more than 55 million people worldwide, as a global public health crisis of the 21st century. In a significant stride towards improving Alzheimer's care, Howard Bergman, MD, FCFP, FRCPC, FCAHS, C.Q and Isabelle Vedel, MD-MPH, PhD, both from �鶹��ý��վ’s Department of Family Medicine played fundamental roles in shaping the first Quebec Alzheimer Ministerial policy, launched earlier this year.

Congratulations to Department of Family Medicine faculty members Anne Cockcroft, MD, Professor, Rhian Touyz, MBBCh, PhD, Professor, and Justin Sanders, MD, Associate Professor, who will get major boosts to their research projects thanks to the latest round of grants from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), which increased its total funding in this competition from $325M to $411M.
