Managing Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾â€™s power demand during extreme weather events

Measures taken equal to turning off 2,000 electric baseboard heaters or unplugging more than 400 electric vehicles

This winter will be the eight season Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ participates in Hydro Québec’s Peak Demand Management (PDM) program. The program, starting December 1st, aims to reduce peak electrical demand during the coldest hours of the winter to reduce pressure on the local electrical grid.

The measures taken by the university, such as transferring loads of certain buildings to back-up generators, on average equal to turning off 2,000 electric baseboard heaters or unplugging more than 400 electric vehicles for each PDM event.
