Biography: 

Dr. Wing is a staff endocrinologist at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Health Centre (MUHC) and professor of medicine at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾.  Following medical studies and residency training at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾, he completed postdoctoral fellowships at Harvard Medical School and the National Research Council Canada Biotechnology Research Institute.  He then returned to Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ where his research program has focused on the role of the ubiquitin proteasome system in metabolism.  This research work has been recognized with his election to the American Society for Clinical Investigation.  

Dr. Wing's clinical work is in diabetes and general endocrinology and he is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in these areas. From 2003-2011 he served as Director of Adult Endocrinology and Metabolism at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ and Director of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine at the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Health Centre. He was co-leader of the Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition and Kidney Disease Axis at the RI-MUHC from 2005 to 2013 and is presently Director of the Experimental Therapeutics and Metabolism Program at the MUHC.
