Biography: 

Dr. Misra completed his MDCM degree and residency in Internal Medicine at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾, followed by fellowships in Nephrology and Solid Organ Transplantation at the University of Toronto. During this time, he earned a PhD in human pluripotent stem cell biology, investigating how pancreatic islets form during embryonic development and interact with the immune system. He subsequently pursued postdoctoral training at the McEwen Stem Cell Institute, where he investigated reprogramming urinary cells into pluripotent stem cells and explored their potential to regenerate kidney tissue.

At the MUHC, Dr. Misra’s clinical practice will focus on kidney transplantation, while his research program aims to develop personalized, stem cell–based therapies to reduce the need for lifelong immunosuppression and improve outcomes for patients living with kidney disease and diabetes.
