Biography: 

Dr. Hornstein completed his undergraduate studies in Physiology and Medicine at Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine at the Montreal General Hospital in 1990, and has been an active clinician in the division of Internal Medicine of the Montreal General Hospital- now the MUHC- since 1990. Following ten years in active community practice he completed further studies in Critical Care and Joined the Critical Care departments at the Jewish General Hospital and the Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Health Center, where his main clinical activities are concentrated.

Dr. Hornstein’s academic interest is in the humanization of care, and he is the founding director of the MUHC’s Critical Illness Recovery Center, which provides a structured recovery program and multi-disciplinary care to patients and family members of patients who have survived critical illness. Dr Hornstein’s other interests and projects are in the development and deployment of an electronic ICU Journals Program and an innovative student volunteering and observership program in the ICU.

Dr Hornstein is married, father of three adult children and foster parent to two cats and a Golden Retriever! He enjoys cycling and playing music with his friends in his band “Twenty4Sevenâ€
