His research interests focus on\nnutrient uptake and io n toxicity in the soil-plant-water-microbe\ncontinuum. His work included s tudies on plant uptake of nitrate\,\nphosphorus\, potassium\, magnesium an d calcium as well as\nmicronutrients (zinc\, copper and manganese). Among toxic ions\,\naluminum\, arsenic\, zinc and sodium feature prominently. Th e\napproaches and techniques used range from ion imaging using\nconfocal l aser microscopy\, to ion-specific microelectrodes\, enzyme\nassays and rad ioisotope tracking. He has experience in chemical\nanalysis of root exudat es\, bacterial and fungal communities in the\nrhizosphere and computer mod eling of root growth and plant nutrient\nuptake. Mechanistic process-based studies in the laboratory and\nglasshouse are complemented with in situ r oot analyses in\nnatural and managed ecosystems.\nSponsored by the Departm ent of Natural Resource Sciences\,\nMacdonald Campus.\n DTSTART:20120427T150000Z DTEND:20120427T150000Z LOCATION:Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:Modeling root growth and function in heterogeneous soils URL:/channels/event/modeling-root-growth-and-function- heterogeneous-soils-216019 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
