Lebanon\, a host country\n for more than 425 000 Palestinian refugees\, imposes a series of\nrestrict ions that prevents Palestinian refugees from fully\nexercising their right s. Moreover\, there are very few possibilities\nfor Palestinians to leave the country in order to improve their\nsituation. Many Western countries h ave changed their migration\npolicies since the early 2000s\, which has le d to greater control of\nborders and of the migrant population.\nThis semi nar\, based on the life stories of 42 Palestinian\nrefugee women of Burj E l Barajneh camp and participant observation\nconducted during fieldwork\, will examine the effects of these\nconditions on the Palestinian refugees of Lebanon.\nAbout the speaker.\nRoxane Caron has a Masters in Social Work from Laval University\nand is currently a PhD candidate in the program of Applied Human\nSciences at the University of Montreal. Recipient of a Van ier\nCanada Graduate Scholarship since 2009\, her thesis explores the\nexp erience of exile of Palestinian refugee women in the Burj El\nBarajneh cam p in Lebanon. From 1998 to 2006\, she was a practitioner\nin Quebec and al so in Kazakhstan as a volunteer for the\ninternational organization\, Volu ntary Services Overseas.
