No-Rooz\nceremonies are symbolic representations of two ancient concepts -\nthe End and the Rebirth\; or Good and Evil.\n\nJamshid Rahimi was born in Khonj\, a small town in south of Iran\,\nwhere he obtained his Bachelo r’s and Master’s degrees at Urmia\nUniversity. After graduation\, Jamshid worked on two projects for\nPak Dairy Company and Mazandaran University of Medical Sciences to\nimprove the physical properties   of low fat yogurt and\ncheese\, respectively. This is his third PhD semester at 鶹ýվ\nUniv ersity under the supervision of Dr. Ngadi.\n\n\nItem 2: Jenna Senecal\nNat ural Liquid Gold\n\nNatural Liquid Gold is what I like to nickname human u rine. Can we\nuse it as a fertilizer? During this presentation we'll discu ss some\nof the reasons why human urine should be seriously considered as a\nfertilizer. Some disadvantages of its use will also be\ndiscussed.\n\nH aving completed her undergrad in Bioresource Engineering at 鶹ýվ\nUniver sity\, Jenna Senecal is now is starting her Master's degree\nunder the sup ervision of Dr. Lefsrud. She will be looking at the\nlong-term impacts on the soil and plants from using human urine as\na fertilizer.\n\n\nItem 3: Harvinder Syan\nHerbicide Resistant Canola – An Overview\n\nCanola is a ma jor Canadian crop and has become very important for\nCanadian farmers. The oil from canola is used for cooking and\nbaking at home and in food proce ssing plants. It also has\nindustrial uses such as in the manufacture of f uels and plastics.\nMost of the canola grown in Canada is genetically modi fied. In this\nseminar we will discuss the basics of the crop and its herb icide\nresistance.\n\nHarvinder was born in India and raised in Punjab (pr ovince) where\nhe completed a BSc Agri (Hons) from Punjab Agricultural Uni versity.\nHarvinder has five years experience in the Potato Seed Productio n\nProgram while working with India’s leading corporate ITC. Harvinder\nis currently working with Dr. Shiv Prasher in the Department of\nBioresource Engineering\, 鶹ýվ in the M.Sc Thesis\nProgram.\n\n\nItem 4: Ashutosh Singh\nOpen Access\n\nOpen access (OA) to research articles prov ides a free\, immediate\nand unlimited potential for accelerated dissemina tion and\nrecognition of research findings. In this presentation we will\n assess the advantages and disadvantages of OA and conventional Toll\nacces s publication.    \n\nAshutosh finished his Master’s in Bioresource engine ering at 鶹ýվ\nlast year and presently he is enrolled in the PhD program in the\nsame department.\n\n\nItem 5: Minoo Yazdanpanah\nIsfahan: A City or “Half of the World”\n\nIsfahan or Esfahan is Iran’s third largest city. It has been\ndesignated by UNESCO as a world heritage city. It contains a wide\nvariety of architectural sites dating from the 11th to the 19th\nce ntury. It is also well known for its handicrafts.
