 Policy Challenges and Responses\nDr. Jerome Delli Priscoli\nMonday\, 26 Oc
 t. 2009\, 16:30-17:30\, Room Raymond 2-045\nThere is growing interest and 
 concern over water issues water\nworldwide. This lecture offers a broad vi
 ew of changing water\nresources challenges and various responses to those 
 challenges\nthroughout the world. The lecture asks questions: Is water a s
 ource\nof conflict or cooperation? It reviews some of the gloomy\narithmet
 ic of water debates today and looks at the investment and\nfinancing needs
  for meeting those challenges and changing the\ngloomy arithmetic. The lec
 ture concludes with an appeal to changing\nthe rhetoric of water policy de
 bates and discourse and for building\na new working ideological consensus 
 on how we approach water\nresource management issues.\nDr. Delli Priscoli 
 is on the Board of Governors of the World\nWater Council and is senior adv
 isor to the United States Army Corps\nof Engineers at the Institute for Wa
 ter Resources. For 30 years he\nhas designed and run social assessment\, p
 ublic participation\, and\nconflict resolution research and training progr
 ams. Dr. Delli\nPriscoli is a skilled mediator and facilitator and works t
 hroughout\nthe world. He has helped found and works with several world\nas
 sociations such as the International Association for Public\nParticipation
  and the Global Water Partnership. Dr. Delli Priscoli\nhas been water poli
 cy advisor to the World Bank and to all of the\nUnited Nations water relat
 ed agencies\, and works closely with many\nWater Ministers throughout the 
 world. He was an original member of\nthe United States delegation to the M
 iddle East peace talks on\nwater. He is author of many articles and books 
 including Water\nand Civilization and Transforming Water Conflicts\,\nand 
 is Editor in Chief of the peer reviewed journal Water\nPolicy. The America
 n Water Resources Association awarded him\nthe Icko Iben award for achieve
 ment in cross-disciplinary\ncommunications in water.\n
