Montreal Gazette - Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ first-year students unite at single event; thousands gather for Frosh week

Harder. Better. Stronger. Frosher. That was the battle cry as Frosh Week at Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ began in earnest on Monday, when thousands of first-year students gathered in Molson Stadium to begin their discovery of the campus and each other. (The discovery of booze occurs later in the week, when the university-sanctioned events wrap up.)

This was the first time the university had invited all first-years to an event at the same time, said Jana Luker, executive director of services for students. About 5,000 students were expected at the launch of Discover Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾.

"We've never had that many together before, so it should be very exciting," she said before the event. Then, under a bright blue sky Monday morning, she welcomed the students "to the best and most exciting years of your life."
