Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ groups unite to denounce cuts to universities
Staff and students at Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ are calling on the Parti Québecois government not to slash $248 million from universities' funding over the next two fiscal years. "We call on the government of Quebec to reverse these dangerous cuts and we appeal to Quebec society as a whole to join together to protect and sustain the universities as a key resource for the future health and prosperity of our society," reads the statement initiated by the Â鶹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ Association of University Teachers. Faculty, administrative and support staff as well as students call the cuts sudden, severe and dangerous and a "threat to the health of our university system and the future well-being of Quebec society." The statement was also signed by principal and vice-chancellor Heather Munroe-Blum.
