The Gazette: Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ students and staff take roadway's shutdown in stride

During the academic year, McTavish St. between Sherbrooke St. W. and Dr. Penfield Ave. has always been more of a parking lot than an extension of the adjacent Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ campus. That changed yesterday, with what officials say is another step in the greening of the area around Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾. Students, staff and other pedestrians are walking freely on McTavish for most of the day, as the street now is vehicle-free, except for deliveries from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and emergencies anytime. Parking on the street is also banned. Âé¶¹´«Ã½ÍøÕ¾ principal Heather Munroe-Blum said she expects these measures, and the addition of planter boxes and benches to the street, will enhance the "green oasis" feel of the campus for all Montrealers who use it...
