His lecture will highlight the central role of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) in cellular regulat ion\, distinguishing between its essential signaling functions (“oxidative eustress”) and its damaging effects at higher levels (“oxidative distress ”).\n\nThis talk will provide insights into emerging challenges in redox m edicine and the fine-tuning of oxidative processes in health and disease. \n\nSpeaker: Helmut Sies\, MD\, PhD\, is an internationally recognized lea der in biochemistry and molecular biology. He served as Professor and Chai rman at the Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I at Heinrich -Heine-University Düsseldorf. He is currently a Research Professor and Sen ior Scientist at the Leibniz Research Institute for Environmental Medicine .\n\nDr. Sies introduced the concept of oxidative stress and made seminal contributions to understanding the role of hydrogen peroxide in biological systems. His work has significantly shaped modern redox biology and nutri tional biochemistry\, including research on antioxidants such as carotenoi ds\, flavonoids\, and selenium.\n\nWith over 800 scientific publications\, he is among the most highly cited researchers in the life sciences and ha s been widely recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field.\n \n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n\n \n DTSTART:20260605T150000Z DTEND:20260605T160000Z LOCATION:Raymond Building\, CA\, QC\, St Anne de Bellevue\, H9X 3V9\, 21111 Lakeshore Road SUMMARY:Seminar on The Multifaceted Roles of Oxidative Stress: Eustress and Distress URL:/campusoutaouais/channels/event/seminar-multifacet ed-roles-oxidative-stress-eustress-and-distress-372871 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
